[Construction Case] Vibration Suppression in Precision Parts Manufacturing Factory - Void Filling Work

"The earthen floor is sagging, causing the machine to vibrate." "The vibration of the machine affects product accuracy." Quickly resolved with the up-con method.

This time, we will introduce a case study of a precision parts manufacturing factory in Saitama Prefecture. Due to ground subsidence, cracks and deflection occurred in the concrete floor, causing vibrations in the machinery. To prevent the impact of vibrations on product accuracy, we carried out subsidence correction work to alleviate deflection and void filling work under the concrete floor. The Upcon method was adopted because it allows for construction without moving the machinery and without stopping operations. 【Site Information】 Saitama Prefecture / Precision Parts Manufacturing Factory Construction Area: 287 square meters Maximum Subsidence: 44 mm Maximum Void Volume: 50 mm Construction Period: 3 days You can view detailed construction information in the PDF download below.

Quickly correct the factory floor's slope and the gaps under the floor with rigid polyurethane foam resin!

Correcting floor tilts caused by earthquakes and ground subsidence without stopping operations and in a short period! No need to move machines or equipment! Also suppressing any concerning vibrations from the machines!

■ The machine cannot be leveled. ■ The machine is tilted and vibrating. ■ Malfunctions are occurring in the machine, leading to an increase in defective products. ■ Gaps have formed in the floor, walls, and ceiling. ■ Cracks have appeared in the floor. The "Upcon Method" solves problems caused by floor tilting and sagging due to earthquakes or ground subsidence, as well as voids and gaps that have formed beneath the floor, using polyurethane resin for quick repairs. 【What is the Upcon Method?】 Small holes with a diameter of 16mm are drilled into the existing concrete floor where subsidence has occurred. While continuously monitoring the level in millimeter increments, polyurethane resin is injected. The resin injected beneath the floor expands under pressure in a short time, compacting and strengthening the ground, improving bearing capacity, and pushing the concrete back to a level position. The final strength of the resin is achieved in about 60 minutes. Even if voids have formed beneath the floor, the same method is used to fill those voids. Since the existing concrete floor is repaired without demolition, the construction period is significantly reduced compared to conventional methods. The polyurethane can lift the floor with a foaming pressure of up to 10 tons per square meter, eliminating the need to move heavy equipment or materials. The deformation of the floor is corrected without stopping the production line.

Road Concrete Pavement Slab Settlement Correction Method Achieves Early Lifting of Traffic Restrictions

We will correct the irregularities such as steps and flapping that have occurred in the concrete pavement slabs using specially developed high-strength polyurethane resin, without excavation and within a short construction period.

Using a specially developed high-strength polyurethane resin, we will correct the deformation such as steps and fluttering that occur in concrete pavement slabs commonly used on highways, as well as fill the gaps and voids that have developed under bridge deck slabs, all without breaking the existing concrete pavement and within a short construction period. Injecting polyurethane resin will also improve the loosening of the subgrade. Additionally, it enables the lifting of joints with polyurethane resin along with the bearing slab, fundamentally resolving the issue of correcting the step at the joint, which traditionally required excavation and long-term continuous restrictions or road closures.

[Construction Case] Fukushima Prefecture, Soma Port Port Maintenance Management Work (Quay Restoration)

Due to ground subsidence at the harbor quay, there are steps and depressions in the concrete pavement slabs, resulting in the loss of water gradient and the formation of puddles. This issue is resolved using the upcon method.

The Upcon method, which allows for modifications without breaking existing concrete pavement slabs and within a short construction period, has been widely adopted in public works such as roads and airports as a maintenance and repair method. This time, we will introduce a construction site for correcting the sinking of concrete pavement slabs and filling voids at a quay in a port. The quay at Soma Port in Fukushima Prefecture, where cargo loading and unloading occurs frequently, has experienced issues due to ground subsidence, resulting in steps and sinking in the concrete pavement slabs, eliminating the water slope and causing puddles. This has hindered cargo operations. The Upcon method was chosen because it has no environmental impact compared to other methods and can correct the existing slabs without removal in a short period. [Site Information] Soma Port Port Maintenance and Management Work (Quay Restoration) Construction Area: Approximately 285 square meters Maximum Subsidence: 97mm Construction Period: 4 days For detailed information on the construction process, please refer to the PDF download below.

"Concrete slab settlement correction method" contributes to the longevity of social infrastructure.

Using high-strength polyurethane resin, we will correct the deformations such as subsidence, steps, flapping, gaps, and voids that have occurred in the concrete slab, without excavation and within a short construction period.

The Upcon concrete slab settlement correction method (KT-080008-A, NETIS registration period ended October 2014) quickly resolves issues such as settlement, step differences, flapping, gaps, and voids that occur in concrete pavement slabs commonly used in highways and other areas. It utilizes specially developed high-strength polyurethane resin, allowing for a swift solution without breaking existing pavement slabs or requiring excavation work, thus achieving a short construction period. This minimizes the downtime of the facility and has established a track record as a planned and efficient method for maintaining social infrastructure. This technology is also employed not only on highways but in repair work for ports and airport aprons, as well as disaster recovery projects. Upcon will exhibit at the "Highway Techno Fair 2023," where cutting-edge technologies supporting highways will be showcased. Date: November 9 (Thursday) and 10 (Friday), 2023, from 10:00 to 17:00 Location: Tokyo Big Sight, West Hall 3 Exhibition Booth No: A-04 On the day of the event, we will also conduct a demonstration of settlement correction using polyurethane resin. We invite you to take this opportunity to see it. We look forward to your visit.

[Construction Example] Construction without moving the rack: Warehouse subsidence correction (Fukushima Prefecture)

No need to remove heavy racks or machinery! Here’s an example of a case that was corrected in just 4 days.

We would like to introduce a case of settlement correction implemented at a warehouse located in Fukushima Prefecture. Due to the impact of the Great East Japan Earthquake that occurred in 2011, gradual settlement progressed over the years, leading to the onset of floor sagging and tilting inside the warehouse. Inclination also developed in the areas where racks were installed. This caused issues such as the forklift forks not fitting properly, resulting in "longer loading and unloading times," which disrupted operations and caused difficulties. For this construction project, we adopted the Upcon method, which allows for construction without moving heavy racks within a short construction period. We were able to correct an area of approximately 1250m2 in just 4 days (with a maximum settlement amount of approximately 78mm). 【Case Overview】 ■ Construction Area: Approximately 1250m2 ■ Maximum Settlement Amount: 78mm ■ Location: Warehouse in Fukushima Prefecture ■ Construction Period: 4 days *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
